# How to Set Up MFA Methods in SamaCare

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your SamaCare account by requiring a verification code when you sign in.

SamaCare supports three MFA methods:

- **Authenticator app** (recommended)
- **Text message**
- **Email**

You can add multiple MFA methods and select the option you prefer to use by default.

#### Access Your Security Settings

1. In the bottom-left corner of SamaCare, click the **circle containing your initials**.
2. Select **User Settings**.
3. Open the **Security** tab.

From the Security tab, you can view and manage your available MFA methods.

#### Add an MFA Method

##### Authenticator App

1. Locate **Authenticator app** under your Security settings.
2. Select the option to add an authenticator app.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your preferred authenticator app.

##### Text Message

1. Locate **Text message** and click **Add**.
2. Enter the mobile phone number where you would like to receive verification codes.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

##### Email

1. Locate **Email** and click **Add**.
2. Enter the email address where you would like to receive verification codes.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

#### Set Your Default MFA Method

After adding a text message or email method, you can select **Set as Default** to make it your preferred verification method.

Once your default method is set, SamaCare will use it to send the verification code needed when signing in to your account.

#### Change Your Default MFA Method

If you want to change or remove your current default MFA method, you must first select another method as your default.

1. Make sure the MFA method you want to use instead has already been added to your account.
2. Select **Set as Default** next to the new method.
3. Once the new default is set, you can remove the previous MFA method if you no longer want to use it.

**Important:** Your current default MFA method cannot be removed until another method has been set as the default.
