It is always a 7-digit number formatted like "SC#1234567".  - This ID is used within SamaCare only, it is not a number the payer will have on file. -  As soon as an authorization is create, whether it has been submitted or not, it is automatically assigned a SamaCare Auth ID.   ![](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Aug-18-2026-05-18-09-9053-PM.png?width=572&height=83&name=undefined-Aug-18-2026-05-18-09-9053-PM.png) --- #### Activity Timeline -  The Activity Timeline shows all activity related to the authorization.  -  Activity appears in timeline format so you can see who made an update and when each update took place, including the date and time.  ![](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Aug-18-2026-05-18-11-8202-PM.png?width=465&height=400&name=undefined-Aug-18-2026-05-18-11-8202-PM.png)   --- #### Notes Tab -  The Notes tab shows notes added by practice staff or by the SamaCare team.  #### History Tab -  The History tab shows all status updates for the authorization.  #### Files Tab -  The Files tab shows all files attached to the authorization, including letters from payers, fax confirmations, and screenshots.  --- ### Actions You Can Take #### Add a Note 1. Click **New Note**. 2. Make sure you are in the **All** tab, since this option appears there. 3. Click **Add File** to upload a file to the authorization.  -  Files added here are not sent to the payer.
