[Getting Started](https://help.samacare.com/getting-started?hsLang=en-us) July 24, 2026 # How to Use the PA Table ## Learn how to search, filter, and navigate prior authorizations in SamaCare. ### ** Overview** The PA Table is your central view for all prior authorizations submitted by your practice. From here you can search, filter, and navigate to individual authorizations to check their status or review responses. --- ### **Step 1: Navigate to the PA** **Table **  Click PA Table in the left-hand navigation to open your practice's authorization list.   ![Untitled design (1)](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Untitled%20design%20(1).png?width=670&height=287&name=Untitled%20design%20(1).png)  ##### **What You'll See** Each row in the PA Table represents a single authorization. The following columns are displayed: - Date Created — when the authorization was submitted - Last Updated — the most recent activity on the authorization - Patient Name - Service Code - Status - Assignee - Payer - Requesting Provider - Servicing Location - Date Submitted - Approved Start / End Dates - Requested Start / End Dates ##### **Status Icons** Two icons may appear alongside an authorization: ![](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-1.png?width=34&height=37&name=image-png-1.png)A Response has been received/attached to the authorization ![Screenshot 2026-05-27 145347](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-05-27%20145347.png?width=33&height=35&name=Screenshot%202026-05-27%20145347.png)There has not been an update on this authorization within the last 5 days. ##### **Organizing and Managing Columns** You can customize and sort your table view in the following ways: - Sort columns — Click the ellipsis (⋮) next to any column header to sort that column in ascending or descending order. - Hide or unhide columns — Use the same vertical ellipsis (⋮) menu next to a column header to hide or unhide individual columns. - Manage which columns are shown — Click Manage Columns to control the full set of columns displayed in your table.  ![image-png-Jun-09-2026-07-24-12-3369-PM](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jun-09-2026-07-24-12-3369-PM.png?width=398&height=273&name=image-png-Jun-09-2026-07-24-12-3369-PM.png)  ![image-png-Jun-09-2026-07-25-19-3302-PM](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jun-09-2026-07-25-19-3302-PM.png?width=262&height=362&name=image-png-Jun-09-2026-07-25-19-3302-PM.png) --- ### **Step 2: Search For an Authorization** Use the search box to quickly locate a specific authorization. You can search by any of the following: - Auth ID - Patient Name - Drug Name - Drug Code - MRN  ![](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-2.png?width=670&height=58&name=image-png-2.png)  **Tip:** Searching by Auth ID is the fastest way to pull up a specific authorization if you already have the ID on hand.    ### **Step 3: Filter Your Authorizations** Use the filter buttons at the top of the table to narrow your view. Each filter is described below: - Needs Attention — shows authorizations in Action Required status, or those that have been in Sent status for longer than the expected follow-up window - Expiring — shows authorizations approaching their end date so you can submit a renewal - My Queue — shows only authorizations assigned to you - Archive — shows archived authorizations  ![](https://help.samacare.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-3.png?width=528&height=73&name=image-png-3.png) ### **Step 4: Open and Review an Authorization**  Once you've found the authorization you're looking for, use the following options to act on it: 1. 1. Click **View** on the left side of the row to open the authorization. 2. If a response has been received, a **Review Response** option will also appear — click it to view the attached response. 3.  If an authorization is in draft status, an **Edit **button will show --- ### **Archiving an Authorization:** -  Once you've opened the authorization, click the box-with-arrow icon in the top-right corner of the screen to archive it.  -  Archived authorizations are removed from your main table view, but you can still find them by going to the PA Table and clicking the Archive filter.
